The Mitsubishi Eclipse arrived in 1990 as a stylish sports coupe and made a name for itself with turbocharged engines and available all-wheel drive. Over the years, the Eclipse grew larger and less appealing to traditional driving enthusiasts but added a convertible model along the way. The fourth-generation Eclipse went on sale in 2006, built on a platform shared with the automaker’s Galant family sedan and Endeavor crossover SUV. It had distinctive styling but had swollen to a size and weight unbecoming of a sports coupe (or convertible). Nevertheless, despite its front-wheel-drive configuration, models with a V6 engine could get up and go. The Eclipse went out of production after the 2012 model year.
