Pretty much a good full size SUV

Other than design issues in combining the CAT with the Exhaust Manifold and not covering it in the warranty and second and third row seats that don't fold completely flat like the Navigator and the fact that Nisson pulled the recall on the timing chain, this is a really solid ride. Be prepared to spend $1600 for a headlight assembly and big bucks for most other parts or repairs done at the dealer. 6 lug rims and 22" rubber came with mine and it is limiting in what type of replacement tire can be used but it was part of a package. Basically this is the same as the Armada Platinum because it is built on the frame of a 3/4 Titan. This car is definitely designed more for long distance highway rides in absolute comfort than it is for hauling stuff inside. The 8500 towing capacity is exceptional and the tech package is really easy to use with some practice. Carpets in the rear cargo area could be more plush and the buyer should expect that in a car that costs upwards of 76K with options. Mine is used and purchased with 109K miles on it but so far I get 20 mpg on the highway at 70+ mph and 15 mpg average in city driving. Oil passages are narrow so using 0-20 or 5-30 full synthetic can help run cooler so mpg can be better. I got a deal on the 2011 but the mechanical issues with the CAT and timing chain were corrected beginning in the 2014 model year and if I had the funds I would have got that year. All of my CAT and timing chain issues have been corrected by the dealer or previous owner so I should have many years of trouble free driving.

Vehicle with style, BUT....

02/14/2021

I've had two QX80's. I love the car, the style and luxury, but I will say that the 2nd one has had me scratching my head. 1st off - The 1st one was wonderful and I actually liked it more. Never had a problem with it. I leased the 1st one. Both were black exterior, but the 1st one was black on black and the second one has the light beige interior and the leather has turned in some areas like a yellow color. My 2nd one has had something going on with it. I've put 4 batteries in it (one a year) and my key fob has died on me 2 times. One of those times my key was inside of my car and the door got locked and so you guessed it...I called Pop a lock to rescue me. Normally the car would have sounded with some beeps and unlocked notifying me that the key was inside of the car, but the battery in the key was dead, so I was a sitting duck. There's just a couple tweaks that Nissan needs to make, but knock on wood the car still runs. Looking for my next new ride.
