The Prius v is a five-passenger multipurpose vehicle with more interior space than a standard Prius but with lower fuel economy. Thanks to its larger dimensions, the Prius v could comfortably hold five people while providing 34.3 cu-ft of cargo space behind the rear seat. Fold the back seat down, and it could hold 67.3 cu-ft of cargo, as much as a compact crossover SUV. Unfortunately, the larger and heavier Prius v used the same 134-hp hybrid powertrain as the standard Prius. It worked overtime to accelerate the Prius v and returned an EPA-rated 41 mpg. In addition, the Prius v came only with front-wheel drive. Toyota refreshed the Prius v in 2015 but otherwise made few changes to the vehicle over its six-year production run. The automaker dropped it from the lineup after the 2017 model year.
