Car Overview
Chevrolet Sonic
A small car with a big personality, the Chevrolet Sonic arrived for the 2012 model year in four-door sedan and five-door hatchback body styles. Made in Michigan, the Sonic offered non-turbocharged and turbocharged four-cylinder engines, manual and automatic transmissions, and four trim levels, including LS, LT, LTZ, and RS. After half a decade, the Chevy Sonic received a refresh for the 2017 model year. Updated design, improved instrumentation, new technology, and additional features made the affordable car look and feel more grown up. In addition, Chevrolet dropped the LTZ trim level in favor of the Sonic Premier and made the racy Sonic RS a package on hatchbacks with LT and Premier trim. By the end of the Sonic’s lifespan, small cars were out, and small SUVs were in with consumers. Chevrolet discontinued the Sonic after the 2020 model year.
