Based on the Hyundai Kona, a small crossover SUV, the Kona Electric is an affordable electric vehicle. Better yet, it offers an EPA-estimated 258 miles of driving range on a full battery charge. This EV has a 150-kW electric motor making 201 horsepower, with a 64-kWh battery. Using a 100-kW DC fast charger, you can recharge the battery from 10 to 80% in 47 minutes. Plug it into a standard Level 2 home charging station and it takes a little more than nine hours to recharge from 10% to full. The front-wheel-drive Kona Electric accelerates briskly and uses 28 kWh of energy for every 100 miles traveled. It comes in SEL and Limited trim, each with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as numerous safety features. Cargo space measures 19.2 cu-ft behind the back seat and 45.8 cu-ft with the seat folded down.
