2024 GMC Sierra EV: What We Know So Far
GMC will soon have a shiny new electric pickup in the lineup.

GMC opened pre-orders in October for their all-new electric pickup truck called the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, which is expected to arrive in early 2024. Reservations closed within a day, and GMC updated its consumer website with a waitlist option. Here’s what we know so far about this electric pickup truck.

2024 GMC Sierra EV: Range and Charging
Like the Hummer EV twins and Chevrolet’s Silverado EV, this new GMC rides on General Motors’ Ultium platform and features a massive battery pack low in the body. The automaker claims the top-spec model will provide up to 400 miles of range under the right conditions — that is, if the temperature, terrain, and pressure of your foot on the accelerator line up just right. Even if the Denali Edition 1 doesn’t live up to that range estimate, an electric pickup with well over 300 miles of range is nothing to scoff at, particularly when you consider its ability to restore 100 miles of battery power in 10 minutes (thanks to its 800-volt architecture).
As for the powertrain, electric motors at the front and rear of the Denali Edition 1 produce an estimated 754 hp and 785 lb.-ft. of torque and enable all-wheel drive.

2024 GMC Sierra EV: Technology
In addition to GM’s hands-free Super Cruise tech, standard features on the launch edition include an adaptive air suspension, GMC’s highly adjustable MultiPro MidGate, and a four-wheel steering system featuring the CrabWalk mode made famous by the Hummer EV.
The MultiPro MidGate is a divider that separates the cabin from the bed that can be lowered to accommodate longer items with tailgate up. With the MidGate down the 5 foot 11 inch bed expands to nine feet of cargo-carrying capacity. Drop the MultiPro Tailgate while putting the load stop in place and the Sierra EV has nearly 11 feet of load floor length.

Taking a page out of the Ford F-150 Lightning’s book, the Sierra EV offers a 10.2-kW power station, capable of powering tools at a worksite or electronic equipment at a campsite. GMC claims that, with the right equipment, the Sierra EV can run household necessities for up to 21 days. Drivers can dial in the amount of regenerative braking, with the max setting providing one-pedal operation.
Inside, the hardest feature to miss is the 16.8-inch touchscreen, the largest ever in a Sierra and the first portrait-orientation screen in any GMC vehicle. Other displays on the top model include a configurable 11.0-inch digital instrument panel and a 14.0-inch multicolor head-up display.

2024 GMC Sierra EV: Pricing and Availability
If all goes to plan, the GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 will cost about $109,000 to start and reach customers early in 2024. Sierra EV AT4 and Elevation trim levels will follow in the 2025 model year. We expect the entry-level model’s price will fall somewhere in the neighborhood of $50,000.
